The ALS Association, St. Louis Regional Chapter invites the community to "Walk to Defeat ALS" on June 26. For the second year, walkers are invited to walk their way - in their neighborhood, in a park, or in any space that allows them to raise awareness while supporting those touched by ALS. In 2020, the COVID pandemic brought out the creativity in participants. This year, individuals and teams are once again asked to find unique ways to get involved, as they honor the memory of those who have lost their battle, encourage those who live with the disease, support caregivers, and enjoy a day designed to give hope for the future. Pam Penter will serve as the 2021 Ribbon Cutter for the Walk to Defeat ALS. The walk is free to all participants. The ALS Association will provide sidewalk chalk, balloons, and signs to help participants make this their own mini parade, with friends and neighbors cheering them on. Walkers can view the live Facebook stream at 9:45 a.m., and post their own photos and stories throughout the day using the hashtag #ALSWalkYourWay. Dowd Bennett, LLC, is the presenting sponsor of the 2021 Walk to Defeat ALS. Their participation is in honor of Dowd Bennett Partner Kelly Murrie's sister Tammy Hardy, who lost her battle with ALS 12 years ago at age 39.
